As the sun sets on summer, Golden Road is trading their seasonal beer along with the seasons!
Sunset Coffee (5.5% ABV) is an oatmeal milk stout fit for the cooler weather. Golden Road partnered with Portola Coffee Labs and put their delicious Panamanian roast coffee in the brew that became Sunset Coffee.
According to the brewers, it is medium-bodied with a “roasty and chocolatey” flavor and a “very smooth finish” to wrap up this cozy brew. Whether you are looking for a beer to relax and sip on as you sit inside the warmth as the weather gets colder and colder and watch the sun go down, or you are looking for a nightcap as the sun sets on a long day, Sunset Coffee might just be the thing you are looking for today.
Be sure to look for Golden Road Sunset Coffee in 12 oz. 6-pack cans in the beer aisle the next time you head to the store. You can end your day on a good note – relaxing with a good beer in hand!
Your favorite things about Halloween may include: jack o’ lanterns, haunted houses, scary movies, and after this year… Elysian Dark Knife.
This fall specialty is Elysian Brewing Company’s first pumpkin Schwarzbier. While that graphic may look sinister, the liquid inside has a light-medium body and a smooth finish.
Dark Knife (4.3% ABV) is “brewed with pale, Munich, roasted barley, and a smattering of dark malts.” Then, “German Northern Brewer and Saaz hops give it a little edge, while 90 lbs. of pumpkin entrails, cinnamon and ginger smooth over the crime scene.”
The only crime you’ll commit this Halloween is not bringing a pack of 22 oz. bottles of Dark Knife to your annual scary movie marathon or not trying it on draft when you see it at the bar or restaurant you frequent on the weekends.
Cheers to Elysian’s first pumpkin Schwarzbier – we’ll drink to that!
That is what everyone at Skeff Distributing is saying this fall, and we bet you will be too after this!
What is better than crisp fall weather, changing leaves, pumpkins everywhere, and a cappuccino in your hand? Putting those pumpkins and cappuccino together in one bottle to taste that cozy fall feeling!
Elysian Brewing Company brewed just that for you in Punkuccino (6% ABV). This coffee pumpkin ale combines 7 different malts, German Northern Brewer hops, is Stumptown coffee toddy, and pumpkin to give you a delicious fall specialty.
Punkuccino is described by the brewers as “a pumpkin ale with the attitude of a world-weary barista…” that packs “a short shot of Stumptown coffee toddy in your pint with just a shake of cinnamon and nutmeg.” It has a medium body and a flavor that keeps you coming back for more.
Friends, you are going to pick up that Punkuccino 12-pack of 22 oz. bottles as soon as you punch that time clock at 5’clock and head to the store for those last minute items for dinner. Grab a pumpkin while you’re at it, and join us in saying, “Pumpkins and Punkuccino, please!” all autumn long.
If you are looking for a pumpkin beer with a little something extra this fall, O’Fallon Brewery has one we think you will love.
Vanilla Pumpkin Beer (5.5% ABV) is exactly what it advertises. With a straightforward name and a straightforward taste, you will not be disappointed by hype. It’s exactly as good as they say.
This brew from O’Fallon Brewery is an amber ale brewed with cold-pressed Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla as well as pumpkin. Doing so adds “another layer of flavor to the ‘pumpkin pie’ theme.” It also balances the cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove you will taste as you sip.
Vanilla Pumpkin Beer is an easy-drinking beer that will have you cozying up to the bonfire this weekend after a long week of work. Be sure to pick up a 6-pack on your way home from the office, and start your weekend off right!
Fall is the time to break out all your Halloween and pumpkin décor, eat and drink all the pumpkin spiced goodies, and queue up The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
This year, though, pair your Charlie Brown viewing not only with the classic tale but with Elysian’s The Great Pumpkin!
This imperial pumpkin ale (8.4% ABV) is one of Elysian’s fall specialty beers that will have you reciting the lines of your favorite childhood character in no time.
The Great Pumpkin has a medium body and is brewed with a variety of malts and bittered with Magnum hops. Then roasted pumpkin seeds, extra pumpkin are added to the mix before spicing this delicious brew with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice to give it that great pumpkin flavor.
Once you pour that first glass, you will see The Great Pumpkin “pours deep copper with a ghostly white head.” The brewers also tell us that combining the intense pumpkin, sugar, and spice with “a nice, bready and malty to tame all those autumn spices” makes this pumpkin ale “a remarkably smooth, balanced, and delectable fall treat.”
We have to admit – we agree!
Be sure to look on shelves for it in 12-pack 22 oz. bottles, and toast this year’s Charlie Brown viewing with The Great Pumpkin imperial ale.
You do you best thinking and have the most fun at night. It’s even better if you do it over a beer. Does this sound like you? Well, friends, we have just the beer for you.
Elysian Night Owl (6.7% ABV) is a pumpkin ale available in 6 pk. 12 oz. bottles. You can pick up a pack for you and a friend, and do your best thinking together.
This pumpkin ale is very drinkable, with a light to medium body. It’s brewed with 7.5 lbs. of real pumpkin per barrel and pumpkin seeds as well Pale, Munich, and Crystal malts. Then Night Owl is spiced with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice and bittered with Magnum hops.
This slice of pumpkin pie in a glass will have you toasting the night, thinking your best thoughts, and thanking the Elysian brewers for their handiwork as you do!
Enjoy Elysian Night Owl; we’ll see you after dark!

In case you did not know, September is National Bourbon Heritage Month. This year, Budweiser decided that they would tip their glasses to honor a fellow member of the industry and celebrate the 85th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition.
Allow us to introduce to you – Budweiser Copper Lager! This new release is a limited edition of the Budweiser Reserve collection like the 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager we wrote about last year.
The first of its kind, Budweiser Copper Lager (6.2% ABV) is a “collaboration brew between two of America’s most iconic brands: Budweiser and Jim Beam.” It is aged on Jim Beam bourbon barrel staves to give it that “… toasted oak aroma, a deliciously nutty taste with caramel rye and vanilla notes, and a smooth finish,” according to the brewers.
And we’ll tell you will make you want to toast routinely from now and most especially on December 5, 2018 – Repeal Day! Stop by your local grocery or liquor store, where you can find Budweiser Copper Lager in 6- and 12-pack 12 oz. heritage glass bottles. These packages will allow you to try and then introduce your friends to the next big thing this fall … And to stock your fridges for all those football watch parties and Repeal Day celebrations.
Plus, for the month of September, you can also toast to the bourbon makers and thank goodness Prohibition failed.
Next month is the 17th annual WSOY Food Drive. As we are connected to one of the founders of the food drive, Skeff Distributing would like to use our platform here to promote this important community event.
So…mark your calendars! Friday, October 5th from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Airport Plaza Kroger on Route 36 in Decatur. It’s the biggest food drive of the year, and helps our local food pantries stock their shelves and feed hungry members of our community throughout the year thanks to the generosity of all the people who donate their time, money, and food.
Last year, our community donated 1.52 million lbs. of food. We surpassed our goal are looking to meet and – hopefully – exceed that goal again this year!
We are focusing our efforts on canned goods and non-perishable items. These items help the food pantries preserve and store the donated food safely in order to keep them for when they are needed most.
Monetary donations are equally helpful with the purchase of the food. Cash, check, and credit card are all accepted, as they will help the pantries get the food they need when they need it. Perhaps they need a perishable item that may not be stored for a long period of time but may help make a delicious meal. Those monetary donations can help make that happen. They also go a long way since the pantries are able to buy at a discount, thanks to the Central Illinois Foodbank.
It’s important to note that all donations go to the purchase of food and feeding families in our communities.
Be sure to come out, donate, or sign up for volunteer! More information about the food drive can be found at NowDecatur.com.
Happy Labor Day from Skeff Distributing! We hope you are currently enjoying the day off with an ice cold Bud Light in your hand or soon will have one placed there by the best of your friends.
Today is a great day to take your time, enjoy yourself and reflect on all the hard work you’ve done so far this year. Then give yourself a pat on the back, and perhaps give your friend, your significant other, your kid, or your coworker one, too! That’s exactly what we at Skeff Distributing are going to do.
We are dedicating today’s blog post to the members of Team Skeff.
Thank you for all the hard work you do day-in and day-out to sell, market, deliver, and merchandise the beer and non-alcoholic beverages that keep our fridges stocked and for making sure our families are provided for by doing so. Our business could not run without all the pieces of this well-oiled machine.
We toast in your honor today and thank you for all the labor you put in throughout the year – especially in the hot summer months and the busy holiday season, when our workload is more than enough to keep us occupied. Enjoy the day, and know we are grateful for you … and for the day to reflect on a job well done.
If you missed our post in April on our Bud Illini blog, you also missed news about BrewDog coming to the Skeff territory. And that means, you have been missing out on some great-tasting beers.
Of course, we are hoping this post will show you the error of your ways and turn that around!
To give you a bit of background, BrewDog originally comes from Ellon, Scotland and has become a multinational brewery and pub chain. They made the leap across the pond and opened a brewery in Canal Winchester, Ohio, and brought those world-renowned beers a little closer to our home, bars, restaurants, and liquor stores.
Now, thanks to your favorite local distributor, Skeff Distributing, you can taste them and love them in your own backyard or your favorite watering hole – whichever you may prefer at the moment.
Try any or all of the following, and you’ll be grateful for international business, good beer, and local distributors all at once!
Elvis Juice (6.5% ABV) – a grapefruit infused IPA that will make your lip curl and hips start to swirl just like its namesake.
Jet Black Heart (4.7% ABV) – an oatmeal milk stout with “roasty malt flavors of coffee and chocolate,” according to BrewDog brewers.
Punk IPA (5.6% ABV) – The flagship of BrewDog and a post-modern classic that started a revolution in craft beer. This IPA has a hop variety that’s “an explosion of tropical fruit and an all-out riot of grapefruit, pineapple, and lychee before a spiky bitter finish.”
You can find them all in 12 oz. 6-pack cans or a 12 oz. 12-pack can variety pack to give you a taste of everything you want all in one package. It is on shelves and menus – so make sure you don’t miss it any longer!
We both know that one of the best things you can have on a hot summer’s day is a tall glass of iced tea. Now, Best Damn Brewing Company had our enjoyment in mind when they brewed up a big ol’ batch and brewed it hard.
Best Damn Hard Tea (5.5% ABV) takes a classic summertime American favorite and kicked it up a notch. It has the “refreshingly smooth iced tea taste” that comes from being aged on real black tea leaves. Then they put that delicious cold brew in 6-pack 12 oz. bottles and 25 oz. cans to make it easier for you to enjoy or to pour over ice!
And that’s not all. If you like a little flavor to your tea, try Best Damn Hard Tea – Peach! It’s “brewed with natural peach flavors for a delightful hint of sweetness.”
These hard teas are the best way to toast summer’s end and get ready for the fall, football, and the kids heading back to school! So, the next time you’re at your local supermarket or liquor store, be sure to pick up a 6-pack or grab a few 25 oz. cans to toast the end of summer.
Summer is a season of barbeques, backyard get-togethers, and parties of all sorts. It is a time to gather your friends and family, and enjoy days spent outdoors doing whatever you like best to fight the heat or embrace it!
At Skeff Distributing, we enjoy doing much the same thing once the day’s work is done. The only thing we would change to this recipe for fun is to add the Party-With-Ritas Variety pack. Now, it’s a party.
If you haven’t picked up a Party-With-Ritas pack yet, and you’re planning your next soirée with your friends – add it to the list! You will find a flavor in this pack for everyone. Whether your guests prefer the originals – Lime-A-Rita and Straw-Ber-Rita – or you like to mix it up with whatever might be the latest addition to the Rita family – like Mang-O-Rita and Pine-Apple-Rita – they will find something to please their taste buds!
This 12-pack of 12 oz. bottles in the latest sleek design is only available for a limited time, though, so be sure you strike while the iron (or the weather, rather) is hot! This variety pack is sure to perk up any party.
Whether you’re in the backyard firing up the grill, at the lake boating, or just having some friends over to catch up, the Party-With-Ritas Variety pack is sure to be a party pleaser! After all, it’s not a party without the Ritas.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. Skeff Distributing is here to share our weekend plans with you. We’re heading to Springfield for the Downhome Music Fest on July 27–28.
Make your way downtown to the corner of 7th and Washington this Friday and Saturday. You will find plenty to entertain and intrigue you Downhome. There are 3 stages of live music from local bands to keep you constantly entertained. Check out the lineup and see which bands you may want to mark your calendar to be sure to see or for those you may want to happen upon while you’re there!
Local food vendors will also be there to share their best festival foods and keep you sustained throughout the weekend. Then wash that snack down with one of the 100 different craft beers available. Skeff Distributing will be there to help you with that, so be sure to stop by the beer booths for some from our portfolio.
Downhome Music Fest is a family-friendly event, so bring the kids! There are areas designed just for them to play and have a good time, so you can do the same.
You may have noticed a new member of the Rita Family in 25 oz. cans at your local convenience store. We’re here to tell you to go ahead and give it a try!
Grape-Fruit-Rita (8% ABV) combines the sweet juiciness of a ruby grapefruit with the twist of a margarita you already know and love. So it begs the question – why wouldn’t you try it? With the familiar flavor of the margarita and grapefruit, what’s not to like?
Again, we will tell you the answer – nothing. There is nothing wrong with it, and everything right about it. It’s deliciously sweet and tart and will make the flavored malt beverage lover in your friend group the happiest person in the world, if you are kind enough to buy them one and introduce them to it.
It will sure make you a hero – even if you did pick it up at the last minute on your way to the party because you forgot to put it on your grocery list and your crazy workweek distracted you every day since! We know how it goes and that’s why we keep those coolers at the c-store near you stocked with 25 oz. cans of Grape-Fruit-Rita!
If you haven’t been to Balloons Over Vermilion in the past couple years, here is your chance to rectify that! Head to Danville for the 3rd annual hot air balloon event at the Vermilion County Airport Friday, July 13th through Sunday, July 15th. There’s fun for the whole family at this event, and it gives you something to do during the day or night!
Get your tickets at the gate, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday or 1 p.m. on Saturday, for just $5 admission and $5 parking (cash only, please)! Kids under 10 years old are free with each paid adult, so it’s a budget friendly event for the family as well.

Of course, there will also be craft beer and Bud Light delivered by yours truly, Skeff Distributing. There are tethered rides, balloon fly outs, balloon school, and – one of our personal favorites – a balloon glow at night! Balloons will light up the Vermillion County Airport with color and fun that everyone is sure to enjoy.
Then again, balloons aren’t the only thing available to enjoy at Balloons Over Vermilion. You can make your way through the car show checking out all the wheels out for your viewing pleasure, go for a helicopter ride and see the view from above, or play in the sand volleyball tournament. No matter what you do or where you go at Balloons Over Vermilion, you are sure to find something that will please everyone in the family (and how easy is that ever to achieve?) and have a great time.
You are hosting your annual Independence Day Party. You planned your food menu and went to the grocery store over the weekend for all of your ingredients. You even stocked up on some staples as far as your drink menu goes – iced tea, water, and lemonade. The last thing on your to-do list is to get the beer. You want it fresh and you wanted a little more time to think about the selection you are offering your guests.
Don’t fret. Skeff Distributing is here to make that selection just a little bit easier for you. Whether you want to pair your beers with the food on your menu or you just want to provide a variety for the varying tastes of your friends and family – we have you covered.
